A camp photo day is one pass — the whole camp, accounted for

This is a picture day, not a season of coverage. A photographer works one organized pass against the camper roster: a portrait for every camper, the cabin and activity groups a camp is built around, and the candids — the cannonball, the ropes course, the last-night circle — that a parent actually wants. Because every shot is tagged to a camper or a group from the roster, the camp ends the day with a proof for each camper and a clear picture of who was missed, instead of a memory card no one can sort.

Shots that do not resolve to a camper on the roster are flagged in the photographer’s queue and sorted before the store opens — not left for a parent to stumble on. The roster is the spine of the whole day: it decides who has a portrait, who a parent can claim, and what each family is allowed to see.

Automatic payouts run once the camp connects its own payout account, and the record of what sold and what the camp earned is the camp’s to keep. The camp brings its camper roster — the same roster its registration system already holds — and a per-camper consent request goes to each parent. A parent grants or declines whether their camper may be photographed and whether the family wants to order. No face template is computed from a child’s photo in the shipping configuration. On the day, the photographer captures portraits, cabin and activity groups, and candids in one organized pass, each shot tagged to a camper or a group from the roster. Shots that do not resolve to a roster camper are flagged in the upload queue for the photographer to sort before the store opens. The whole camp is accounted for against the roster, so a parent later finds their camper instead of scrolling a pile.

Step 3 · The store — a parent claims a camper

Each family gets a claim code. A parent opens the store, enters the code, and sees only their own camper — a permission-checked roster lookup, not a face scan. They pick prints, packages, and downloads, each priced above the code-enforced cost floor. Step 4 · After — the split and payouts

On every order the split is computed in exact cents — the camp keeps the larger leg — and the record of what was sold and what the camp earned is the camp’s to keep. What we do with a camper’s photo, and what we never do

Photos of campers are stored on our own systems and are never sold. A photo becomes sellable only when a parent’s permission allows it. A parent finds their camper by a claim code and a permission-checked roster lookup — not a face scan. Camper photos are never used for advertising and never shared with data brokers or outside companies for profit; a picture-day order routed to an outside print lab is fulfilled by that vetted partner, so not every step is kept fully in-house.

No face template is computed from a child’s photo in the shipping configuration. The consent machinery for face matching is off by default per child, and the matching capability is a capability we are building and is not turned on today — the recognizer is not yet wired. The product holds no face-recognition model weights, and photo finding uses a permission-checked roster lookup instead.
